Nolan will be releasing the follow-up to their award-winning N103 modular helmet, the N104 next week. We had the opportunity to get handsy with it today thanks to our local Tucker Rocky sales rep.
The first thing we noticed was how lightweight the lid was. Although the helmet was a size large, it felt like it weighed less than the N103 sized small that we had pulled off the shelf to compare it with.
The next thing we noticed was the size difference of the face shield. This shield, in comparison to the already dynamite version on the N103, is HUGE! It looks to be at least 25% larger than the last model, squashing any concerns about visibility, especially peripherally.

The hinge mechanism that allow the chin-bar to sweep up and back is new too. It has a locking feature that, when activated, locks the chin bar upright to allow for riding in open-face sandwich mode. The chin-bar open/close action is very light but positive with a slightly lighter feel than the previous N-model. It still feels very solid, just not overly so.
As seen in the pictures, the internal sun shield makes a return, but this time has a quick-release button allowing the shield to return all the way back into the shield with a single button press.
Nifty.
Again, the helmet will be arriving next week and there are plenty of features we didn’t discuss here so be sure to check back when we will try to grab some video action of the helmet… in action.
Until then, enjoy this video produced by Nolan.
